History

Our Retailer Roots : NJGRA

Founded over 75 years ago as the New Jersey Gasoline Retailers Association & Allied Trades, Inc. (NJGRA), our organization has been a leading small business advocate in New Jersey and beyond.

Our Recent History : NJGCA

In 2007, the Board of Directors changed the name of the organization to the New Jersey Gasoline-C-Store-Automotive Association (NJGCA).  The name change reflected a growing trend in which many retailers have opened a convenience store at their stations in order to better serve motorists and consumers.

Our Present and Future: NJEMG

In 2026 our Board of Directors decided to respond to our ever-evolving marketplace by again rebranding and refreshing the organization, now with a simpler name. Though the name is shorter, the industries we represent is only expanding, now including motor fuel distributors and other suppliers to our industries, in addition to auto repair shops, convenience stores, and gas stations. Energy marketers also makes clear that our businesses are happy to provide whatever type of fuel the customer of the future wants.
